Kaczory ( German  Fürstenwalde ) is a village in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship within the Gmina Srokowo (rural municipality Drengfurth ) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ).

Geographical location

Kaczory is located in the northern center of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , 21 kilometers northeast of the district town of Kętrzyn ( German  Rastenburg ).

history

Fürstenwalde originally only consisted of a large farm. It was founded in 1854. In the “Official Gazette of the Royal Prussian Government in Königsberg, 1854, No. 33 Ordinance No. 181 “it was said under the date of August 7, 1854: The name Fürstenwalde is attached to the dismantling within the boundaries of the Fürstenau village, Rastenburg district. Until 1945, Fürstenwalde was a residential area in the community of Fürstenau ( Polish: Leśniewo ) in the East Prussian district of Rastenburg . In 1885 it had 25 inhabitants, in 1905 only 9 inhabitants.

As a result of the war, all of southern East Prussia and with it Fürstenwalde came to Poland in 1945 . The small place received the Polish form of the name "Kaczory" and is today "część wsi Leśniewo" ("part of the village Leśniewo") without an independent function. As such, it is incorporated into the Gmina Srokowo (Drengfurth) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ), until 1998 of the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then it has belonged to the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship .

church

Until 1945 Fürstenwalde was parish in the Protestant parish church of Drengfurth in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Catholic parish of Rastenburg with the Drengfurth branch chapel .

Today, on the Catholic side, Kaczory belongs to the parish Srokowo in the Archdiocese of Warmia , and on the Protestant side to the Srokowo Church , which is now a branch church of the Johanneskirche Kętrzyn in the diocese of Masuria of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .

traffic

Kaczory is on a side road that branches off from Voivodship Road 650 not far from Leśniewos (Fürstenau) and leads to Kamień (Stein) - already in the neighboring municipality of Węgorzewo (Angerburg) . There is no connection to rail traffic .
