history

The place called Steetenbruch around 1785 is a large estate in its origin. In 1785 it was a "noble estate and village with 39 fireplaces". 1874 Settenbruch was in the newly built office district Wehlack ( Polish Skierki ) incorporated, which until 1945 the county Rastenburg in the administrative district of Kaliningrad in the Prussian province of East Prussia belonged.

Stettenbruch still had 99 inhabitants in 1820, its number rose to 179 by 1885, was 148 in 1905, 152 in 1910, 188 in 1933, only 164 in 1939.

As a result of the war, Stettenbruch came to Poland in 1945 along with all of southern East Prussia and received the Polish form of the name “Szczeciniak”. Today the settlement ( Osada in Polish ) is part of the rural community Srokowo (Drengfurth) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ), until 1998 of the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then it has belonged to the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship .

church

Until 1945, Stettenbruch was parish in the Protestant Church of Wenden and in the Catholic Church of St. Katharina Rastenburg in what was then the Diocese of Warmia .

Today, the church of Szczeciniak is oriented towards Srokowo : towards the Catholic Holy Cross Church in the current Archdiocese of Warmia and the Evangelical Village Church , a branch church of the Johanneskirche Kętrzyn in the diocese of Masuria of the Evangelical Augsburg Church in Poland .

traffic

Szczeciniak is located between the two voivodship roads DW 591 (former German Reichsstraße 141 ) and DW 650 and can be reached from Winda (Wenden) or Solanka (Salzbach) and Nowa Różanka (Neu Rosenthal) .

There is no longer a train connection. Until 1945, Stettenbruch was a station on the Rastenburg – Drengfurth railway line used by the Rastenburger Kleinbahnen , but it was not reactivated.
