Suchodoły ( German  Friedenthal ) is a small town in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the Gmina Srokowo (Drengfurth) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ).

Geographical location

Suchodoły is located in the northern center of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , 21 kilometers northeast of the district town of Kętrzyn ( German  Rastenburg ).

history

Friedenthal originally consisted of a large courtyard and was named "Friedenthal" on August 28, 1821 as the previous dismantling of Rodies . Until 1945, the place was a residential area within the municipality of Drengfurth ( Polish Srokowo ) in the East Prussian district of Rastenburg . In 1885 Friedenthal had 35 inhabitants, in 1905 there were 37.

When all of southern East Prussia fell to Poland in 1945 as a result of the war , Friedenthal was also affected. It received the Polish name form "Suchodoły" and is now a settlement ( Polish Osada ) within the rural community Srokowo (Drengfurth) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ), until 1998 the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then it belongs to the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship .

Until 1945 Friedenthal was incorporated into the Protestant parish church of Drengfurth in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and into the Catholic parish church of St. Katharinen Rastenburg in what was then the diocese of Warmia . Today Suchodoły belongs to the Catholic Holy Cross Church Srokowo in the current Archdiocese of Warmia and also to the Evangelical Church Srokowo , a branch church of the parish Kętrzyn in the diocese of Masuria of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .

Suchodoły can be reached directly from Srokowo (Drengfurth) on Voivodship Road 650 and from Wilcze (Waldhaus Drengfurth) via Sówka (Eulenhof) . There is no connection to rail traffic .
