Goszczewo ( German  Adolfshof ) is a small town in the Polish Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to Gmina Srokowo (Drengfurth) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ).

Geographical location

Goszczewo is located on the Masurian Canal ( Kanał Mazurski in Polish ) on the eastern edge of the "Reserwat Przyrody Kałeckie Błota" nature reserve in the northern center of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship . It is 14 kilometers to the northwest to the former district town of Gerdauen (today Russian Schelesnodoroschny ), and today's district metropolis Kętrzyn ( German Rastenurg ) is 25 kilometers south.  

history

From the ramparts Adolfshof (1820 Adolphshof ) and Langenfeld (no longer exists) which was created on April 14, 1897 Gutsbezirk six heirs ( Polish Kalki ) located in the administrative district Birkenfeld (Polish Brzeźnica ) in the East Prussian district Gerdauen belonged. In 1905 Adolfshof had eleven residents in one dwelling. The sixth manor district was merged on September 30, 1928 with the manor district Birkenfeld in the new rural community Birkenfeld.

As a result of the war, Adolfshof came to Poland within the whole of southern East Prussia and received the Polish form of the name "Goszczewo". Today it is a settlement (Polish Osada ) in the network of the rural community Srokowo (Drengfurth) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ), until 1998 the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then it belongs to the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship .

Until 1945 Adolfshof was parish in the Protestant parish of Nordenburg (today in Russian Krylowo ) in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Catholic Church of St. Bruno in Insterburg (Russian: Chernyachovsk) in the then diocese of Warmia . Today Goszczewo belongs to the Catholic parish Srokowo in the current Archdiocese of Warmia and to the Evangelical Church Brzeźnica , a branch church of the Johanneskirche Kętrzyn in the Diocese of Masuria of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .

traffic

Goszczewo is a bit out of the way and can be reached via a somewhat impassable side street from Bajory Wielkie (Groß Bajohren , 1938 to 1945 Großblankenfelde) . There is no connection to rail traffic .
