Siemkowo ( German  Terra ) is a small town in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the Gmina Srokowo (Drengfurth) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ).

Geographical location

Siemkowo is located in the northern center of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, 15 kilometers northeast of the district town of Kętrzyn ( German  Rastenburg ).

history

Terra was founded on August 15, 1851 and consisted of several small farms. Until 1921 it was a residential area in the manor district of Schülzen B ( district of Salzbach ), which was then incorporated into the rural community of Schülzen ( Silec in Polish ) in the East Prussian district of Rastenburg . In 1885 Terra had 15 inhabitants, in 1905 it had 11 inhabitants.

Together with the whole of southern East Prussia , Terra was transferred to Poland in 1945 as a result of the war and was given the Polish form of name "Siemkowo". Today it is "część wsi Silec" ( German  "part of the village Silec" ) and thus belongs to the rural community Srokowo (Drengfurth) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ), until 1998 the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then assigned to the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship .

church

Until 1945 Terra was parish in the Evangelical Church of Drengfurth in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Roman Catholic Church of St. Katharinen in Rastenburg with the Drengfurth branch chapel in the then diocese of Warmia .

Today, on the Catholic side, Siemkowo belongs to the parish of Srokowo in the current Archdiocese of Warmia and to the Evangelical Church of Srokowo , a branch church of the Johanneskirche Kętrzyn in the Diocese of Masuria of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .

traffic

Siemkowo can be reached directly from Silec (Schülzen) via a side road. There is no rail connection.
