Kristopher Beech (born February 5, 1981 in Salmon Arm , British Columbia ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who was last under contract with the Belfast Giants in the British Elite Ice Hockey League .
Career
The 1.88 m tall center began his career with the Calgary Hitmen in the Canadian Junior League WHL before he was selected in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft as seventh in the first round by the Capitals.
His first four NHL missions completed the left shooter towards the end of the 2000/01 season , at the beginning of the following season Beech was transferred to the Pittsburgh Penguins together with Michal Sivek and Ross Lupaschuk in a swap against Jaromír Jágr and František Kučera .
The Canadian played 79 games in his first season for the Penguins and scored ten goals and 15 assists , but those in charge in Pittsburgh were dissatisfied with the further development of their new purchase, so that Kris Beech on September 9, 2005 for a draft pick in the next entry Draft was sent to the Nashville Predators . On March 9, 2006, he finally returned to Washington in exchange for a first-round pick and defender Brendan Witt . There Beech played first at the AHL - farm team , the Hershey Bears , with whom he the Calder Cup of the season won 2005/06. Since this success, Kris Beech was back in the NHL regulars of the capital city.
In the summer of 2007 he signed a one-year contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets . There he managed - as with his next two short-term stints, the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Vancouver Canucks - but at no time made the permanent jump into the NHL regular squad, so that the attacker left the league after the 2007/08 season at HV 71 Jönköping in the Swedish Elitserien to lace up the skates. With HV71, the Canadian was runner-up in the 2008/09 season before the Swedish championship was won in the following season. In May 2011 he signed a contract with Rauman Lukko in the SM-liiga .
In October 2013, the previously clubless center first took part in the training of the German first division club Straubing Tigers before signing a one-year contract on October 24, 2013.
On February 27, 2014, the Tigers announced that Beech would be loaned to Vienna Capitals , which play in the Erste Bank ice hockey league, until the end of the season . After the surprise elimination in the playoff quarter-finals against EC VSV , his stint at the capital city ended, where he only played seven games. In the summer of 2014, the change to HC Innsbruck became public. The club from Tyrol was the fifth stop for Beech in the past two years. However, the striker could not meet the expectations placed in him, which led to another club change. From summer 2015 Beech was under contract with the Belfast Giants from the EIHL .
