Around 34,000 people live in the large district town of Radebeul, directly adjacent to the state capital Dresden . The number of addresses, some of which have several cultural monuments of different types, is around 1275, which results in around 1565 monuments in Radebeul. Due to the high density of monuments of over 45 monuments per 1000 inhabitants and due to its historical development, the large district town of Radebeul as a communal body had its own lower monument protection authority after the fall of the Wall , which is usually only located in the district or in a district-free city.

As of July 1, 2012, however, Radebeul is “sacrificing monument protection” in order to be able to pull out all “registers for the state theaters of Saxony ”. Responsibility for monument protection was transferred to the district of Meißen in Grossenhain . In return, the District Office should “think about setting up a counseling room in the job center on Dresdner Straße [in Radebeul].” With this, “Radebeul [the] monument archive that has been compiled over decades […] is losing, a real treasure trove of knowledge "As well as the" professional competence and [the] commitment of the employees for their city. "The" purely economic reasons [...] "and the majority decision of the city council were explained by the mayor in such a way that the" ever increasing burdens [...] of the lower monument protection authority without proper financial compensation as well as the regular financial participation of the city in the state theaters enforced by the state ”together with the backlog of processing of the tax certificates“ inherited ”from the former regional council for the depreciation of monuments forced to make this decision. A new list of monuments was published on May 24, 2012, after the previous list was as of April 17, 2008.

The Radebeul monuments are spread across all parts of the city, but most of them are to the north of the Meißner Straße, which runs through the town from east to west, due to the large number of architectural monuments in the two villa districts Oberlößnitz and Niederlößnitz .

Some of these properties are located in the historical vineyard landscape of Radebeul , which has been designated as a historical monument since 1999 and which runs through the entire city along the slope of the Lusatian Fault, shown as a brown line on the map .

The map also shows the narrow-gauge railway line of the Lößnitzgrundbahn , which runs from the Radebeul Ost train station to the west and then to the north through the Lößnitzgrund . The railway line itself as well as the Lößnitz dachshund's real estate and rolling device are listed as historical monuments.

In the official monument mapping, the cultural monuments in Radebeul are divided into:

Wackerbarth Castle

Some of these different types of monument overlap. The two Radebeul castles Hoflößnitz and Schloss Wackerbarth, with their large surrounding areas, are objects of monument preservation , which at the same time represent works of landscape and garden design with their courtly gardens and the surrounding vineyards of the former and still existing wineries . In addition, numerous within the collections of objects buildings listed as single monuments, in the case of Hoflößnitz not only the castle itself and its outbuildings such as the Cavalier's House, but also the Bismarck tower and the Spitzhaus and there leading Spitzhaus stairs . The city's large cemeteries, such as the Radebeul-West and Radebeul-Ost cemetery, are both listed as a whole as well as works of landscape and garden design in which the chapels are individually protected monuments.

A large part of the individual monuments are the protected winegrowers' houses and also the numerous villas and country houses , which are often located in large garden plots ( works of landscape and garden design ) or around which there are often monumental ancillary facilities . In addition, there are settlements ( aggregates ), in the village centers numerous farms ( individual monuments ) as well as in the more urban developed areas residential and commercial buildings, apartment buildings and, less often, industrial buildings ( individual monuments ).

The list of cultural monuments in Radebeul or the navigation bar below branches out to the lists, which are separated by subject or district due to the number of monuments. In some of the lists, historically significant buildings are added, some of which are still received extensively today and are used to provide a complete overview, for example in the case of the mansions , where only one lost its monument status due to renovations a few years ago and another has already been Monument protection times was changed too much to be able to give it this status today. However, this does not change its historical role within the Loessnitz , which is also called the Saxon Nice because of its preferred location, going back to a saying by the Saxon King Johann around 1860.

For the sake of completeness, the Todhübel located in the monument protection area should not be missing , a ground monument on which there was probably a fortified manor complex from the 13th century that no longer exists.

The addresses of the numerous Radebeul cultural monuments are summarized by street in the list of streets and squares in Radebeul in a separate column.

While many of the Radebeul monuments were only added after the fall of the Wall , a larger number was already under monument protection in earlier years : a list of architectural monuments from GDR times (1973 and 1979) can be found under the list of monuments of cultural history in Radebeul ( streets and Complete systems : 7 entries and individual objects : 100 entries of 99 objects). In the 1979 additions to the district monuments list , the positions at monuments of cultural history ( monument areas [ensembles] and streets : 14 entries and architectural monuments : 180 entries) are increased. Monuments of political history can be found in the category: Monument to political history (Dresden-Land district) .

As early as 1904, Gurlitt wrote a description of 32 art monuments for the area of the Loessnitz villages as part of his fundamental inventory . From these, Dehio presented nine art monuments in 1905 as part of his handbook of German art monuments .

Due to the 1909 law against disfigurement of town and country , the first Saxon monument protection law, the rural community Niederlößnitz issued a local decree in 1912 to protect the Wackerbarths Ruh ' estate, which is also managed by Dehio , in order to protect it against parceling efforts ( urban sprawl ). In 1915, the rural community Oberlößnitz followed with a local law against the disgrace of the Hoflößnitz along with the facilities and the surrounding area, in order to protect the further division of the 2.8 hectare core area of the former royal / electoral Hoflößnitz winery, which was established around 1401, against further urban sprawl.
