Frank Kuruc (born February 23, 1961 in Trenčín , Slovakia) is a German jazz guitarist .

Live and act

Kuruc studied classical guitar between 1983 and 1987 at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts with Ihsan Turnagöl and at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. He then worked as a soloist in classical and light music and as a studio musician, among others for Mikis Theodorakis , Katia and Marielle Labèque , Freundeskreis ( Esperanto ) and Max Herre , for whom he also composed.

In the field of jazz, Kuruc worked with Hans Koller , Peter Herbolzheimer , Dieter Reith , Ack van Rooyen , Till Brönner , Nils Landgren , DePhazz , Joo Kraus , Joe LaBarbera , Paquito D'Rivera and Billy Cobham . He led his own groups and was on several international tours with Wolfgang Haffner in 2005/2006 , with whom he appeared at festivals such as Jazz Baltica , the Düsseldorf Jazz Rally and the Leverkusener Jazz Days . He was also touring Austria with Mike Svoboda's ensemble . He also played with Bernd Konrad and Herbert Joos in the group Südpool and belongs to the second generation of the United Jazz + Rock Ensemble of Wolfgang Dauner .

Kuruc has been a professor for jazz guitar and ensemble management at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Mannheim since 2004, after many years of teaching . As a composer he wrote stage and film music ( at the bottom, at the top ).
