The Langholz is a forest on the edge of the border region Salzburg to Upper Austria . It also represents a locality of the municipality of Straßwalchen in the Salzburg-Umgebung district .
geography
The forest is located between Straßwalchen and Frankenmarkt , 7½ kilometers east of the first and 3½ kilometers west of the second. It covers about three kilometers to Nössenbach and Eisbach up north to the Weinbach , at altitudes of 540- 580 m above sea level. A. The forest belongs to the pass and gate landscape between the alpine edge of the Mondsee Flysch Mountains ( Salzkammergut Mountains ) in the south and the Hausruck and Kobernaußerwald train of the Alpine foothills in the north, the Straßwalchener area into the Vöcklatal directs.

The Strasser house ( Haslach 7, 569 m above sea level ) is located in the middle of the forest, right on the border. It is the only house of the gazetteer out scattered houses Langholz the community Straßwalchen. It is the easternmost settlement in the northern Flachgau region .
The Westbahn runs through the forest, coming from Vienna just before the Pöndorf stop.

history
An infestation with the red-headed pine shoot moth took place in the long wood in the 1960s . At the time, over 300 hectares were infested here.
