The uninhabited little island of Liebes is located in the Baltic Sea , in the Varbelvitzer Bodden between the islands of Rügen and Ummanz . It is a good 1000 meters long, up to 200 meters wide and only 1.5 meters high. It belongs to the municipality of Ummanz . The name of the island could be derived from the Slavic Lipa = linden tree .

Just like the three very small neighboring islands of Urkevitz , Mährens and Wührens , it is located in the Western Pomerania Lagoon Area National Park and as a bird sanctuary cannot be entered without a permit.
