The Prosnitzer Werder , also known as Gustower Werder , is a German Baltic Sea island in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . It is located in Gustower Wiek , which is part of the Strelasund , about 300 meters off the south coast of Rügen near Prosnitz . Like Prosnitz, the island belongs to the municipality of Gustow . It is uninhabited and wooded. It is a maximum of 60 meters long and 30 meters wide and has an area of about 0.1 hectare.
According to the WWF, mute swans and tufted ducks breed here . It is said to be the largest colony of river terns in the Bodden waters .
