List of Gothic brick buildings in the central Danube region
Gothic brick buildings in Hungary and Slovakia → Screenshot of this map, of course with place names ➡ see also all detailed distribution maps - Atlas of Brick Gothic |
The list of Gothic brick buildings in the central Danube region is part of the Gothic brick building list , in which the entire European inventory of these buildings is listed as completely as possible.
Hungary , Slovakia and Croatia were combined because Slovakia was part of the Kingdom of Hungary from the fall of the Moravian Empire through the land conquest of the Magyars until the end of the First World War . Spiš, which was heavily populated by German colonists, in northern Slovakia was pledged to Poland from 1412 to 1769, with intensive contacts there. Croatia was connected with Hungary in personal union from 1102–1526 and from 1527 onwards it was partly Ottoman and partly Habsburg . The Gothic brick buildings in Slovenia and Serbia are in parts of the country that also belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary in the Middle Ages .
Hungary
(Number of structures: 7)
There is more hidden than visible brick masonry in Hungary's medieval buildings. Many churches became ruins during the 145 years of Ottoman rule . They were restored around 1700 with plastering that did not necessarily have to have been there before. Brick may be exposed in ruins from the Turkish Wars and World War II , although these buildings were plastered intact.
