Residential building |
Viersener Strasse 133 location |
North of the water tower on the street section facing out of town, which has an almost closed historical row development on both sides. Here the building is part of an ensemble with eight other historical residential buildings, punctually interrupted by two post-war buildings. A two-storey plastered building with a gable roof and a broad dwarf house. Asymmetrically structured by accentuating the left half of the building by means of a flat arched bay window open on three sides. The horizontal structure is provided by a plinth, floor and protruding eaves cornice. Windows in rhythmic arrangement with varying execution. The protection is based on urban planning and architectural-historical reasons. | 1912-1914 | V 021 |

Residential building |
Viersener Straße 135 location |
The building is located north of the water tower on the street section facing out of town, which has an almost closed historical row development on both sides. A three-storey plastered building with a loft. Asymmetrically structured by accentuating the entrance axis (right) by means of a two-storey, flat arched bay window and a gabled dwelling with a balcony exit. A single floor and sill cornice as horizontal emphasis. The windows of the left half of the facade (three ground floor, two upper floor each) in a regular arrangement and uniformly rectangular design; decorated with profiled sills. The bay window that occupies the right-hand half of the building is opened by three more narrowly formulated vertical rectangular windows connected by cornice. Next to the house entrance on the left is a smaller, barred window. The surface of the gable roof breaks through a two-string dormer. For urban planning reasons, placing the building under protection is therefore in the public interest. | 1927 | V 022 |

Residential building |
Viersener Strasse 145 location |
Three-storey plastered building on four axes with windowed jamb under a flat pitched roof; Long extension at the rear, coupled with that of the neighboring house (No. 147). Horizontally divided by plinth, sill, floor and eaves cornice. A console-supported bay window in a four-pillar corner construction and a baluster-limited balcony attachment as an asymmetrical accent and plastic loosening of the otherwise regular facade. Access to the house from the right axis with a deeply cut entrance niche. Window disposition in regular rows with uniform, high-rectangular window formats with framing that varies from storey to storey. On the ground floor console-supported entablature crowned by segment gable with keystone; Entrance framing more powerfully formulated and varying in detail. On the first floor ear framing with triangular gable and on the second floor a simple profile beam as roofing. The window openings of the jamb are designed as lying rectangles and framed with an unadorned profile frame. All in all, finely modeled stucco ornamentation with eclectic use of Renaissance style elements. In addition to the borders of the openings, parapet and crown decorations, horizontal plaster strips and bucrania between the jam-windows. A protection of the property is in the public interest for urban planning and architectural-historical reasons. | around 1900 | V 023 |

Bismarck monument | Vierhausstrasse / Odenkirchener Strasse / Moses-Stern-Strasse Location |
The Bismarck monument stands under large trees in a green area north of Vierhaus Strasse, south of Moses-Stern-Strasse and west of Odenkirchener Strasse. The obelisk over a multi-tiered base and substructure, hewn from dark, igneous rock, with a polished surface. The substructure rises above a stepped plinth, which originally also carried the portrait of Imperial Chancellor Otto von Bismarck in a medallion. It is lost today. The monolithic obelisk adjoins a surrounding cornice. A bronze plate with the name of the Reich Chancellor and the inscription "Ehrenbürger von Rheydt", which was probably added later, was preserved. The property is worth protecting as a monument for reasons of local history. The object is important for human history. There are historical reasons for its preservation and use. | 1896 | V 026 |

Hall of the Dead with Stations of the Cross and cemetery | Viersener Strasse 450 location |
The objects (mortuary hall with stations of the cross and cemetery) are located on the northeastern edge of the property belonging to the Franziskushaus directly on the border with the Viersener Landwehr. The complex includes a small mortuary hall - built between 1908 and 1918 - and in the external appearance comparable to a chapel, a station of the cross (from 1938) and a cemetery (from 1918), where the deceased sisters of the "Franciscan Sisters of the Repentance and Christian love ”.
The mortuary hall is a small brick building, today heavily overgrown with ivy, with round-arched small window openings in the choir, in the side walls and the west gable. This also accommodates the double-leaf, round-arched wooden door. To the east, the building is closed off by a drawn-in, rounded choir. The brick cross on the west gable and the top on the main roof, designed as a roof turret with three arched positions, are striking. Window frames as cast frames and a coffered wooden door with exposure in the upper half complete the picture. Instead of the original covering, the roof is re-covered with sanded roofing membranes. Way of the Cross: Starting from the death hall in the southwest, a way of the cross consisting of seven stele-shaped pedestals (from 1938) extends to the northeast. In their depressions on both sides they contain fourteen mosaic depictions of the stations of the cross. The mosaics come from the hand of Sister Elma König. The completion of the mosaics dragged on until after the Second World War. Cross system: to the south of the stations of the cross, located on a path that runs roughly in a south-west-north-east direction, there is a cross system to the side on a low hill, accessible via an eight-step staircase. It consists of a cuboid substructure, used as an altar in processions, with a rising cross, which is a mosaic depicting the risen Christ. To the side of it lie priestly graves, while the gravesites of the sisters lie on an area adjoining to the east. The object is important for human history and for cities and settlements. There are scientific, architectural and local historical reasons for its preservation and use. |

Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences | Webschulstraße 31/33 Rheydter Straße 291 location |
The property consists of the school building (Webschulstraße 31), the former director's house (Webschulstraße 33), the former workshop on Webschulstraße (facade and front building with shed roof) and the former goods testing office for textiles (Rheydter Straße 291).
School building: It is a 2-storey brick building in neo-Gothic shapes. The street facade is divided into two corner and a central projections with colored glazed bricks and ceramic reliefs. The formerly existing ornamental gables were not rebuilt after being severely damaged during the war. The main entrance door, the stairwell and the corridor areas with brick arches and cross ridge vaults have been preserved, as well as an auditorium on the top floor with complete seating from the reconstruction period. The single-storey shed roof factory building to the west of Webschulstrasse, with what is in principle the original brick facade with pilaster strips, is part of the monument because of its characterizing effect on the street and as a functionally integral part of the historical training facility. To the east of the main building, on the corner of Richard-Wagner-Strasse, is the former director's house, largely preserved in its original form. The two-storey corner building is closed on both sides of the street by a projecting protrusion with a half-timbered ornamental gable. A bay-like tower is arranged around the corner, which rests on brick consoles in the area of the ground floor. The upper end is a brick cornice with a timber framing above. The tent roof, initially sloping flat, merges into a pyramid-shaped helmet roof with a decorative tip. Between the corner tower and the ornamental gable there is a dormer in the gable roof on each side of the street. The articulated brick facade, like the ornamental gable and the winter garden attached to the north side, has been preserved in its original form in an ornate wooden construction. The windows and window divisions are partly preserved in their original form, as well as in the inner staircase, tiled floor and room doors with neo-Gothic walls. The intermediate building between the school building and the director's house is not part of the memorial. The former public goods testing office for the textile industry in Mönchengladbach is located on Rheydter Straße. The building, completed in 1916, was badly damaged in 1944 and reopened in 1951. It is a three-story brick building with five window axes, natural stone cornices, natural stone window sills, a hipped roof with eaves and three dormer windows facing the street. On the first floor there is a central bay on natural stone consoles. The original front door and some old windows have been preserved, as arched windows on the ground floor and arched windows on the upper floor. The base, the parapets and the window lintels are highlighted as decorative masonry or by masonry lintels. The entrance area with staircase is built in front like a risalit on the south side. Loggias are built into this porch on the 1st and 2nd floors east of the staircase |
