The list of territorial changes in the Ruhr area from 1871 to 1900 contains important changes to the municipal areas in the Ruhr area in the period from January 1, 1871 (establishment of the German Empire) to December 31, 1900. This includes, among other things, mergers and separations of communities, integrations of Parishes to another, changes in parish name and major reclassifications from parts of one parish to another.

Legend

  • Date : date of legal effect of the change of area
  • Municipality before the change : Municipality before the area change
  • Action : Type of change
  • Municipality after the change : Municipality after the area change
  • District : District of the municipality after the change of area

The sorting is done chronologically: date, independent cities, rural districts, receiving or newly formed municipality. Communities that still exist today are highlighted in color.
