List of dishes in Italy
The list of courts in Italy includes the highest state courts in Rome, as well as the lists of the lower state Italian courts of ordinary and special jurisdiction by region .
Supreme Courts
- For the constitutional jurisdiction is the Constitutional Court in Rome in charge.
- The highest court of ordinary jurisdiction is the Court of Cassation in Rome.
- The Supreme Water Court in Rome is the supreme court for public waters.
- At the head of the administrative judiciary is the Council of State in Rome.
- The Italian Court of Auditors in Rome has the status of a court.
- There is a military appellate court in Rome . The court of appeal may be the court of cassation.
- The financial jurisdiction is organized at the provincial and regional level. The court of appeal may be the court of cassation.
- The labor jurisdiction is part of the ordinary, an equivalent of the German Social justice does not exist.
Lists by region
The judicial districts of the appellate courts ( higher regional courts ) are basically based on the borders of the regions. Some regions have more than one court of appeal. There is no court of appeal in the Aosta Valley region; here the court of appeal in Turin ( Piedmont ) is responsible. The district or regional court in Massa in the north-west of Tuscany, with its district and the subordinate peace courts, belongs to the jurisdiction of the Court of Appeal of Genoa ( Liguria ).

In 2012, the Monti government decided to rationalize the area of ordinary justice. Of the 165 regional courts and their 220 branches, 30 courts and all 220 branches were dissolved. 667 of the 848 peace courts were to be dissolved, but the local authorities were given the option of continuing to operate peace courts at their own expense. The relevant staff were transferred to the remaining courts or used otherwise.
In the area of ordinary jurisdiction, the following remain:
- the Supreme Court of Cassation
- the General Prosecutor's Office and the National Anti-Mafia Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Cassation
- 26 appellate courts (with 3 branches) with associated public prosecutor's offices and anti-mafia public prosecutor's offices
- 26 juvenile courts (with 3 branches) with associated public prosecutor's offices
- 136 regional courts with associated public prosecutor's offices (+4 regional courts in Abruzzo, which will close in 2018)
- around 350 peace courts (as of 2015)
