List of top scorer in Olympic football tournaments

The list of top scorer in Olympic football tournaments includes all top scorer in men's tournaments since 1908 and in women's tournaments since 1996.

The Dane Sophus Nielsen was the first top scorer in an Olympic football tournament in London in 1908 with eleven goals. For women, at the premiere in Atlanta in 1996 , they were the Norwegians Ann Kristin Aarønes and Linda Medalen and the Brazilian Pretinha with four goals each. Record scorer in men is the Hungarian Ferenc Bene , who at the tournament in 1964 in Tokyo scored twelve goals. For women, this is Canadian Christine Sinclair , who scored six goals in London in 2012 .

So far, only the Brazilian Cristiane has been able to win or defend the title of top scorer twice at an Olympic football tournament.
