Live at Last! Halfway Around the World is a live album released in 1997 by the American rock band Dan Reed Network .

Emergence

During the existence of their record contract from 1987 to 1993, the group Dan Reed Network developed with tours through American and European clubs as well as numerous engagements as the opening act for other bands such as Bon Jovi ( New Jersey tour , 1989), the Rolling Stones ( Urban Jungle tour , 1990) and 1991 a good reputation as a live band as a supporter of Baby Animals in Australia . The tour through Europe and Great Britain in the summer of 1993 was also her last. The band's last concert took place on August 8, 1993 at The Garage club in London . Numerous appearances were recorded and archived at the concerts.

Daniel Pred, co-founder and drummer of the band, had founded a video production company (Videomedia) in Portland after the band's career ended. In 1997, together with the band's former keyboardist, Blake Sakamoto, he set out to sift through hundreds of recordings and put them together in order to do justice to the live broadcast of their band on CD. Two-channel master tapes were used, which had either been recorded in analogue or digital format directly from the mixer at the respective venue.

The location and date of recording is recorded for each track on this album. So was z. B. the live version of "Tiger in a Dress" used on this CD was recorded on December 10, 1989 in Hamburg.

In addition, recordings (listed here in the order of the songs) from Belfast , Odense , Sydney , Melbourne , London , Glasgow , Liverpool , Gothenburg , Portland , Visby , Birmingham , Adelaide , Stockholm , Varberg , Vienna and Prague found their way onto the album, which was released as a double album.

Video

A suitable VHS video, also Live at Last! titled and produced by Dan Pred, was also published. It shows the band's concert on December 31, 1991 in their hometown of Portland and is filmed in black and white.

In November 2010 Dan Reed released the black and white video Live at Last! again, this time on DVD. In addition to the original version, there is now an audio commentary from Reed, on which he comments on the individual songs and the tours of the band; the image and sound material was processed and the distribution took place via Dan Reed's website.
