Lloyd Omdahl

Lloyd B. Omdahl (born January 5, 1931 in Conway , Walsh County , North Dakota ) is an American politician . Between 1987 and 1992 he was lieutenant governor of the state of North Dakota.

Career

Lloyd Omdahl studied at the University of North Dakota , where he later gave lectures as a professor of political science. At the same time he struck a political career as a member of the Democratic Party , which calls itself in North Dakota Democratic-Nonpartisan League Party . Between 1963 and 1966 he was the tax commissioner of his state. He also headed the Office of Management and Budget . In 1976 he ran unsuccessfully for the United States House of Representatives . In 1971 and 1972 he took part in a constitutional convention of his state as a delegate.

After the death of Lieutenant Governor Ruth Meiers Omdahl was appointed by Governor George Sinner as her successor. In 1988 he was confirmed in this office, which he held until 1992. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate .
