Frank H. Hyland

Frank H. Hyland (* 1880 in Iowa ; † 1934 ) was an American politician . Between 1923 and 1925 he was lieutenant governor of the state of North Dakota .

Career

Frank Hyland attended Iowa Agricultural College , now Iowa State University in Ames . He then moved to North Dakota, where he worked as a farmer in Ramsey County . He also became known as an auctioneer. In this profession he also worked in the neighboring states of North Dakota. In the meantime, especially during the winter months, he was a teacher in Chicago for future auctioneers. Politically, he joined the Republican Party . In 1911 and 1912 he was a member of the House of Representatives from North Dakota ; from 1913 to 1920 he was a member of the State Senate .

In 1922, Hyland was elected Lieutenant Governor of North Dakota alongside Ragnvald A. Nestos . He held this office between 1923 and 1925. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. Between 1929 and 1932 he was again State Senator. In 1932 he ran unsuccessfully as an independent for the office of governor of North Dakota. He died in 1934.
