John W. Carr

John W. Carr (born March 26, 1874 in Fayette County , Iowa , †  June 14, 1932 in Jamestown , North Dakota ) was an American politician . Between 1929 and 1932 he was lieutenant governor of the state of North Dakota.

Career

John Carr attended public schools in Iowa and then North Dakota. After a subsequent law degree at the University of Minnesota and the University of North Dakota and his admission to the bar in 1901, he began to work in Jamestown in this profession. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party . He served on the Jamestown Education Committee for 17 years; For two years he sat on the local city council. He then was first deputy and then until 1928 actual prosecutor in Stutsman County . Between 1923 and 1928 he was a member of the House of Representatives from North Dakota , as its president he served from 1926 in the successor of Ben C. Larkin .

In 1928, Carr was elected Lieutenant Governor of North Dakota, alongside George F. Shafer . He held this office between 1929 and his death on June 14, 1932. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate . At the time of his death, he was in the North Dakota gubernatorial area. He was married to Marie Remmen, with whom he had four children.
