Lomagne (noble family)

Lomagne is the family of the Vice Counts of Lomagne and Auvillars who took over the county of Armagnac after an adoption at the beginning of the 13th century . The vice counties of Lomagne and Auvillars received it as a dowry from the Adelais of Aquitaine, a daughter of William III. (V.) the Great , Duke of Aquitaine and Count of Poitou .

history

1302 inherited Count Bernard VI. of Armagnac the county of Rodez , in 1435 his grandson Bernard, Count of Pardiac the county of La Marche , in 1461 he was made Duke of Nemours . The Counts of Armagnac died out in 1497, their illegitimate descendants in 1585, and the Dukes of Nemours died out in 1504.

The best-known member of the family is Bernard VII d'Armagnac , Connétable of France and leader of the Armagnaks in the civil war of the Armagnacs and Bourguignons 1410-1419.
