Career

society

Martínez Quarta started playing football at the amateur club CA Kimberley de Mar del Plata in Mar del Plata . At the age of 16, he moved to River Plate's youth department in 2012 . There he played in various junior teams before he was promoted to the first team for the 2016/17 season. On November 13, 2016 (10th matchday) he made his debut in the 0-1 away defeat against Newell's Old Boys in the top Argentine division . He quickly established himself in the starting line-up and won his first title with the Copa Argentina in mid-December 2016 . On March 16, 2017, he made his debut in the Copa Libertadores 2017 and scored his first goal in professional football in the 3-1 away win against the Colombians Independiente Medellín . On June 22nd, he met in the 1-0 home win against CA Aldosivi for the first time in the league.

A day later he was convicted of doping together with a teammate, Uruguayan Camilo Mayada . In the context of games of the Copa Libertadores 2017 against FBC Melgar and CS Emelec , it was proven that they had taken the prohibited substance hydrochlorothiazide (HCT). This is not used to improve performance, but is mostly used to cover up other doping substances. River Plate defended the players on the grounds that they accidentally ingested the drug through a legal sports supplement. Both players were immediately prohibited from participating in any of the Rivers competitive games by CONMEBOL . On October 5, 2017, both players were suspended from CONMEBOL for seven months and fined 20,000 euros. At this point, half of the sentence had already passed. Martínez Quarta later stated that he trusted the doctor River Plates one hundred percent and only took what the doctor had given him. Until then, he had made 23 competitive appearances in this 2016/17 season, in which he had scored three goals.

On January 29, 2018, he returned to the field in the 0-1 away defeat against CA Huracán . In the league he played nine games in this 2017/18 season. He played four games in the Copa Libertadores 2018 . He played 58 minutes in the 2-2 draw against rivals Boca Juniors in the first leg of the final. In the 3-1 triumph in the second leg, he was not taken into account. In the 2018/19 season he established himself again as a regular player and made 17 appearances in the league. In the next 2019/30 season he played 19 league games on the pitch.

National team

On September 6, he made his debut in a 0-0 draw in the friendly international match against Chile for the Argentine national team .
