Marcel Becquart (born May 10, 1914 in Annecy ; † February 23, 2010 there ) was a French rally and circuit racing driver .

Racing career

Marcel Becquart was active for many years in his hometown of Annecy as managing director of a company that manufactures watch straps and for a long time he was a member of the mind of the Automobile Club du Mont-Blanc . In this role he founded the Rallye du Mont-Blanc in 1947 .

In the 1950s, Becquart was also active as a driver. His greatest success in rallying was the overall victory at the Monte Carlo Rally in 1950 on a Hotchkiss 686 GS. In the following years he repeatedly achieved good results at the Monte Carlo Rally . In 1955 he finished seventh, in 1956 eighth and in 1958 sixth.

On the racetrack, he almost exclusively competed in the Le Mans 24-hour race . In 1951 and 1952 he celebrated class wins on a Jowett Jupiter R1 . His best place in the overall classification was tenth in 1955 , with partner Maurice Gatsonides in the works Frazer-Nash Le Mans Coupe .
