Keith Ballisat contested the 1964 24 Hours of Le Mans with a model of the racing version of the Sunbeam Tiger

Keith Ballisat (born May 20, 1928 in Sutton , † May 25, 1996 in Bridgwater ) was a British racing driver .

Racing career

Rallying

Keith Ballisat was involved in a number of rallies in the late 1950s and early 1960s . In 1958 he finished fourth overall with Alain Bertaut in the Alpine Tour and in 1959 overall second in the tulip rally . In both cases, a Triumph TR3 was his emergency vehicle.

Circuit

Ballisat already competed in circuit races during his time as a rally driver. Between 1958 and 1960 he competed in Formula Junior and Formula 2 races . At the Grand Prix de Caen 1958 (emergency vehicle a Cooper T43 ) he retired, the Lombank Trophy 1960 he finished seventh (Cooper T43) and the Crystal Palace Trophy in the same year as sixth (Cooper T43). He also competed in the Lavant Cup and the Norfolk Trophy .

In the early 1960s he was a sports car pilot and works driver for Standard Motor Company . He competed four times in the 24 Hours of Le Mans , with the best result in 1961 when he finished ninth overall.

After the end of his racing career, he worked for many years in the oil industry and was responsible, among other things, for the racing activities of Shell . He died at the age of 68 years at a cancer .
