Ian Jack "Jackie" Lewis (born November 1, 1936 in Stroud , England ) is a former British racing driver . In 1961 and 1962 , he contested a total of nine races in the automobile world championship.

Career

Lewis' best and only result in championship points was fourth place at the 1961 Italian Grand Prix , where he crossed the finish line just twelve seconds after Bruce McLaren , who drove in an identical car. For the following season, 1963, Lewis decided to take a year off from racing. However, he did not return to the cockpit and became a shepherd in his adopted home Northern Ireland.
