Margrit Osterwold

Margrit Osterwold (born September 1, 1944 in Hamburg ) is a German publisher and audio book director. She founded the Audiobook Hamburg publishing house and managed it until 2009.

Career

Osterwold completed an apprenticeship as a bookseller at Paul Parey Zeitschriftenverlag (hunting magazine " Wild und Hund "). In 1968 she switched to the production of Spiegel Verlag, where she worked until 1972. After working for the McCann advertising agency for two years, she returned to the book industry and worked as an advertising manager for S. Fischer Verlag (1974-79), Ullstein Verlag (1979-82), Hoffmann and Campe Verlag (1984-92) and Gruner + Jahr (1992-95). In 1995, Osterwold joined Hoffmann and Campe again as advertising manager and also took care of building up the audio book program. From 1999 on she was responsible for the Hoffmann and Campe audio book program and editor of the Heyne and Ullstein audio books (1999–2003). On April 1, 1999, she founded the audio book publishing house Hörbuch Hamburg.

She was married to the former Justice Senator in Berlin Gerhard M. Meyer . They have one son. She lives in Hamburg.

Publisher

Margrit Osterwold had the decisive listening experience in the 1970s on a car trip with the audio book “Schloss Gripsholm” by Kurt Tucholsky , which was interpreted in the edition of the time by speaker Uwe Friedrichsen. At the age of 54, on April 1, 1999, she founded the independent audio book publisher Hörbuch Hamburg . As a publisher, editor, editor and director in personal union, the focus of the program was on non-fiction books, but above all on literary titles. It was important to Osterwold to keep a balance between literarily demanding and high-turnover titles. Bonnier Media Germany , a subsidiary of the Swedish media group Bonnier founded in 1993, has been the publisher's main shareholder since 2006 . In the autumn of 2007, the audio book Hamburg program was expanded to include the children's and youth audio book label Silberfisch. In 2009 the adult label OSTERWOLDaudio was added. In the same year, Margrit Osterwold handed over the management and publishing management to Johannes Stricker, who still runs the company today. Margrit Osterwold is still associated with the publishing house as a freelance audio book director and editor of productions.

EASTERWOLD

In 2004 she created the undoped, after her named, first speaker award of the Federal Republic of Germany, the OSTERWOLD, in order to explicitly honor the speaking performance of the actors. The figures designed by the Berlin artist Volker März have been awarded every year since then as part of a major award ceremony. Awards

Together with the director and author Gabriele Kreis, she received the German Children's Audio Book Prize BEO for the “Best Director” for the polyphonic reading and cast of “Wunder” by Raquel J in the category “7-11 years” as well as from the children's jury Palacio (silver fish).
