Markus Baldegger

Markus Baldegger (* 1947 in Altstätten ) is a Swiss painter and Germanist .

life and work

From 1968 to 1974 Markus Baldegger studied German and history at the Universities of Freiburg im Üechtland and Bonn . He then worked as a lecturer at the University of Freiburg until 1980 and, together with Martin Müller, Anton Näf and Günther Schneider, wrote the basic didactic work “Contact threshold - German as a foreign language”. From 1981 to 1984 Baldegger studied painting with Franz Dank in the art and design department of the Cologne University of Applied Sciences (the former Cologne factory schools ).

Markus Baldegger's artistic output reached its first climax in the 1980s with almost monochrome painting. The color yellow is of particular importance in his works. Again and again he examines the possibilities of this central color. At the end of the 1990s, Baldegger broke open the area and set rhythmically juxtaposed patches of color. The juxtaposition of the shapes that change in the light creates a light fabric and thus new possibilities to represent a color.

Markus Baldegger currently lives and works in Lontzen and Cologne .
