Markus Janka (classical philologist)
Markus Janka (born September 8, 1969 in Regensburg ) is a German classical philologist .
Life
Janka studied from 1988 to 1993 classical philology, history, German, education and law. In the spring of 1993 he passed the first state examination for teaching at grammar schools in the subjects of history, Greek, Latin and education. From 1993 to 1996 he was a research assistant at the Institute for Classical Philology at the University of Regensburg , then until February 1998 trainee lawyer at the Karls-Gymnasium München-Pasing, the Gymnasium Fridericianum Erlangen and the Albertus-Magnus-Gymnasium Regensburg , at the same time a lecturer at the University of Regensburg . In 1997, Janka received her doctorate from Hans Gärtner with a commentary on the second book of Ovid's Ars amatoria in Regensburg. He passed the second state examination on February 13, 1998.
From March 1, 1998 to March 31, 2004, Janka was a research assistant at the Chair of Greek Philology ( Georg Rechenauer ) at the University of Regensburg. On February 5, 2003, he completed his habilitation with the work Dialog der Tragiker: Liebe, Wahn und Wissen in Sophokles 'Trachiniai and Euripides' Hippolytos . He then worked as a private lecturer at the University of Regensburg. From 2003 to 2006 he held various substitute and visiting professorships in Latin studies at the University of Konstanz , Heidelberg , Frankfurt am Main and Salzburg .
On April 1, 2004, he was promoted to Senior Scientific Assistant in Regensburg. In the first half of the school year 2005/2006 he was a temporary teacher at the Dom-Gymnasium Freising . In 2006 he was given leave of absence and went to the University of Munich as a research assistant , where he was appointed Professor of Classical Philology and Specialized Didactics of Ancient Languages at the Department of Greek and Latin Philology on April 1, 2007.
Janka has been co-editor of the magazine Gymnasium since 2007 . His main focus is on the ancient drama, rhetoric, eroticism and mythology of antiquity (here in particular with Ovid), the history of the impact of ancient literatures and the didactics of ancient languages and literatures. He is a board member of the Mommsen Society .
