Martin Otčenáš (born August 25, 1987 in Poprad , Czechoslovakia ) is a Slovak biathlete and cross-country skier .

Career

Martin Otčenáš starts for the ŠKP Štrbské Pleso . He competed in his first international races in 2007 as part of the junior races of the Biathlon European Cup . In Ruhpolding , he took part in a Junior World Championship for the first time in 2008 and finished 57th in the individual, 34th in the sprint, 30th in the pursuit and with Norbert Gröne , Michal Baka and Michal Lepies in the relay race 12. In his native Nové Město na Moravě little followed later participation in the Junior European Championships, where Otčenáš 35th of the individual, 15th of the sprint, 19th of the pursuit and with Lepies, Gröne and Tomáš Hasilla tenth with the relay.

At the start of the 2008/09 season , Otčenáš started for the first time in the men's IBU Cup in the performance area and finished 86th in his first sprint in Idre . He won first points as 34th of a sprint in 2009 in Altenberg . In addition to biathlon, Otčenáš was also involved in cross-country skiing quite intensively until 2008 and has been taking part in international competitions here since 2003, especially in FIS races and the Slavic Cup . In 2006 he won a freestyle sprint in Zakopane as part of the Slavic Cup. In 2004 he took part in the Nordic Junior World Championships for the first time in Stryn and reached the 73rd place in the 10-kilometer freestyle, 77 in the sprint and with the relay he finished 14th. In 2005 Otčenáš started at the Junior Olympic Festival in Monthey , where he was tenth in the 10-kilometer freestyle, nine in the 7.5-kilometer classic and 21st in the sprint. A little later he also started at the Nordic Junior World Championships in Rovaniemi , where he came in 28th in the team sprint and in both the team sprint and the 10-kilometer freestyle. In Kranj Otčenáš took part in the Nordic Junior World Championships for the third time, was 18th in the sprint, 34th in the team sprint and 49th in the 10-kilometer freestyle. After the Junior World Championships, the biggest sporting highlight so far followed with his participation in the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , where he was 49th in the sprint qualification and thus missed the final. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Sapporo in 2007 , he again missed the final as 36th of the qualification. In the team sprint, Otčenáš and Michal Malák finished 15th over 15-kilometer freestyle 51. The last major event in cross-country skiing was the 2007 Junior World Championships in Tarvisio with a 29th place in the classic sprint, 19th place over 10-kilometer freestyle and 29th place in the pursuit.
