Mary Kay Place

Mary Kay Place (born September 23, 1947 in Tulsa , Oklahoma ) is an American actress and singer .

Life and accomplishments

Mary Kay Place graduated from the University of Tulsa , then moved to Hollywood . She made her actress debut in an episode of the 1973 television series All in the Family . She won an Emmy in 1977 for her role in the soap opera Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman , which she played from 1976 to 1977 . In the musical film New York, New York (1977) she played on the side of Liza Minnelli and Robert De Niro .

For her role in the drama Manny & Lo (1996), Place was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award in 1997. For her role in the comedy Being John Malkovich (1999), she was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award in 2000 as a member of the acting ensemble . For her role in the film drama Nine Lives (2005) she was awarded the Bronze Leopard at the Locarno International Film Festival as a member of the acting ensemble , and she was also nominated for the Gotham Award .

As a by-product of her work in the production of the Mary Hartman television series , Mary Hartman , she released the musical album Tonite! At the Capri Lounge Loretta Haggers , which was nominated for a Grammy Award .
