Max Herbert Schautzer (born August 14, 1940 in Klagenfurt ) is an Austrian presenter and actor .

Life

After graduation in 1958 at the Business Academy in Klagenfurt and subsequent military service studied Schautzer 1959-1962 economics , but without a corresponding degree to acquire. Then Schautzer attended the drama school at the Vienna Conservatory , later also the drama school of the cellars in Cologne.

His career as a presenter, speaker and author for radio and television in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Luxembourg began in 1965 at WDR radio in Cologne. There he initially worked as an announcer in the studio and as an emcee for public broadcasting events. Hans Rosenthal brought him in as a reporter for his radio series “ Fun must be ”, which is broadcast throughout Germany . In 1967 Werner Höfer brought him to television. Schautzer moderated numerous different program formats during his career. One of the most famous television series is bankruptcies, bad luck and breakdowns , which he designed and moderated (first broadcast on March 30, 1986). He also moderated television programs such as ARD Wunschkonzert (together with Dagmar Berghoff ), The Most Beautiful Melodies in the World (with Carolin Reiber , among others ), ARD TV lottery “Ein Platz an der Sonne” , Sundays and all or nothing . One of his best-known entertainment programs was the ARD quiz show Alone Against All (1978-1982), for which Hans Rosenthal, who directed the game 161 times on the radio, suggested him. Schautzer took over the Eurovision broadcast of ARD, ORF and SRG after the 4th episode by Wolfgang Spier .

In almost all television productions, Max Schautzer was not only the presenter, but also a co-author of the broadcast concepts. In 1989 he founded the television production company MS Showtime GmbH , of which he is also the managing director. He commented for the ORF the Euro Vision Song Contest 1979 in Jerusalem and for the ARD the Euro Vision Song Contest 1991 in Rome.

In 2004, due to his advanced age, Schautzer was dismissed from ARD as the presenter of the program Immer wieder Sonntag , which caused a great deal of media coverage. Since then he has been committed to the elderly and has written a book on the subject of youth mania for the understanding of the generations, in which he also refers to his own dismissal.

In the theater, after a long break, Schautzer could be seen again as an actor in Paul Pörtner's interactive crime comedy Scherenschnitt or The Murderer Are You in the comedy in the Bayerischer Hof , Munich and on tour through Germany, Luxembourg and Switzerland (2003 and 2004). In the 2006/07 season he was a partner of Dietz-Werner Steck in Sonny Boys on the stage of the Comedy at the Marquardt in Stuttgart. In October / November 2012 and April / May 2013 Max Schautzer will play with Tim Sander and Sebastian König in the comedy Dresden in Meine Braut, seine Vater und ich , the German premiere of the comedy by Gerard Bitton and Michel Munz.

In 2016, Schautzer was on tour with Christiane Rücker and Werner Opitz with the play Schick mir keine Blumen with the Braunschweiger stage comedy on the Altstadtmarkt , directed by Florian Battermann . From May to July 2016 Max Schautzer was again in Düsseldorf in the play Meine Braut, his father and I as an actor in the Theater an der Kö .

For charity he played soccer in the NDR-Elf, with the Tele-Kickers and for years as captain of the WDR celebrity team.

Schautzer has been married to interior designer Gundel Schautzer since 1968 and lives in Cologne and Kitzbühel .

Since November 2014 or episode 94 of the radio play series Horror Cabinet , he has been a frequent speaker for Titania Medien.

In 2019, Schautzer appeared in the game show Did you know? as an expert on the subject of the 1972 Summer Olympics .
