Jakob Mayenschein (born April 1, 1997 in Landshut ) is a German ice hockey player who has been under contract with EHC Red Bull Munich in the German Ice Hockey League since 2016 and has been loaned to the Augsburg Panthers since 2019 .

Career

Mayenschein was trained at EV Landshut and played first games for the men's team in the DEL2 in the 2013/14 season . In the 2015/16 season he gained international experience with the Erie Otters , who had pulled him 114th place in the second round of the 2015 CHL Import Draft in the Canadian Ontario Hockey League (OHL). In March 2016 he suffered a ruptured cruciate ligament.

After returning from Canada, the Landshut player played 13 games for the second team of EC Red Bull Salzburg in the cross-border Alps Hockey League between October and the end of December 2016 . At the end of December 2016, he moved to EHC Red Bull Munich in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) and was also given a sponsorship license for the DEL2 club SC Riessersee . At the end of January 2017, Mayenschein moved permanently to SC Riessersee for the rest of the 2016/17 season.

In August 2019 Mayenschein was loaned to the Augsburger Panther for one season .

International

Mayenschein led the German youngsters on the ice as team captain at the World U17 Challenge in January 2014 . He then played with the German U18 team at the 2014 and 2015 World Championships in the top division. In 2016 and 2017 , when he was voted the best player on his team, he was then on the ice for the German U20 national team in Division I.

In the spring of 2017 Mayenschein was appointed to the German senior national team for the first time.
