Melayro "Mela" Chakewno Jalaino Bogarde (born May 28, 2002 in Rotterdam ) is a Dutch football player . The defender is under contract with TSG 1899 Hoffenheim in Germany and is a young Dutch national player.
Career
society
Bogarde was discovered as a player in the RVV Swift Boys by scouts from Feyenoord and was then trained as a footballer in its youth training center. In the summer of 2018 he left his hometown and moved to the academy of the German Bundesliga club TSG 1899 Hoffenheim , with which he signed a contract that was valid until June 2021. There he received a place in a player boarding school, was in the Wilhelmi-Gymnasium Sinsheim logged and learned together with other foreign players German . Some English Premier League clubs had also expressed interest in him in advance .
The defender spent the first half of his first season in the club's U17s, and in the second half of the season he was integrated into the A-Junior Bundesliga team . Bogarde played in 25 cross-competition games for the TSG Juniors, including three final round matches in the UEFA Youth League , where they failed in the semifinals against eventual winners FC Porto . After the Dutchman had already been able to train with the professionals, head coach and compatriot Alfred Schreuder appointed him to the matchday squad four times. On matchday 29 at the end of May 2020, Bogarde was finally in the starting line-up in Mainz as a right defender, followed by a brief assignment one matchday later. As sixth in the table, the Dutchman was able to qualify for the Europa League with TSG and moved up to the professional squad in summer 2020.
National team
Bogarde has been playing for the KNVB's junior teams since the U15 , so far his coach has always been Peter van der Veen. For the U17s , the defender played all the games at the 2019 European Championship , in which the Netherlands beat Italy 4-2 in the final ; it was the second European title in a row. At the World Cup , which will take place later in 2019 , Bogarde and the Netherlands took 4th place.
