Mercer County is a county in the state of New Jersey . The county seat is Trenton , which is also the capital of the state of New Jersey.

history

Mercer County is named after Hugh Mercer (1720–1777), a general in the American Revolutionary War .

14 locations in the county have National Historic Landmark status , including Albert Einstein House , Princeton Battlefield, and Washington's Crossing . A total of 105 buildings and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (as of February 16, 2018).

The county had 350,761 people as of the 2000 census . There were 125,807 households and 86,303 families. The population density was 599 inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 68.48% White, 19.81% African American, 0.20% Native American, 4.94% Asian, 0.10% Pacific Islander, and 4.29% other races Groups; 2.17% were from two or more races.
