Middlesex County is a county in the US state of New Jersey . At the 2000 census , the county had 750,162 people and a population density of 935 people per square kilometer. The county seat is New Brunswick .
history

Middlesex County was founded in 1683 as part of East Jersey Territory .
One place in the county has National Historic Landmark status , Old Queens, Rutgers University . 72 buildings and sites in the county are listed in the National Register of Historic Places (as of February 16, 2018).

The county covers an area of 835 square kilometers, of which 33 square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Union County , Monmouth County , Mercer County, and Somerset Counties .
Demographic data
According to the 2000 census , the county had 750,162 people. There were 265,815 households and 190,855 families. The population density was 935 inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 68.42% White, 9.13% African American, 0.20% Native American, 13.89% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, and 5.71% other races Groups; 2.60% were from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 13.59% of the population.
Of the 265,815 households, 34.20% had children and young people under the age of 18 living with them. 57.00% were married couples living together, 10.80% were single mothers. 28.20% were not families. 22.40% are single households and 8.70% have someone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.74 and the average family size was 3.23.
For the entire county, the population was composed of 23.70% of residents under the age of 18, 9.50% between 18 and 24 years of age, 32.80% between 25 and 44 years of age, and 21.70% between 45 and 64 years of age 12.30% were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 96.40 males, and for every 100 females aged 18 and over there were 93.50 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $ 61,446 , and the median income for a family was $ 70,749. Males had a median income of $ 49,683 versus $ 35,054 for females. The per capita income was $ 26,535. 6.60% of the population and 4.20% of families are below the poverty line. 7.20% of these were under 18 years of age and 6.00% were 65 years of age or older.
