The Camden County is a County US state of New Jersey . At the 2010 census , the county had 513,657 residents and a population density of 885.1 people per square kilometer. The county seat is Camden City .
The Camden County is part of the Delaware Valley called metropolitan area around the city of Philadelphia .
geography
The county is located in southern New Jersey and is separated from the city of Philadelphia in the neighboring state of Pennsylvania to the west by the Delaware River . It has an area of 589 square kilometers, of which 14 square kilometers are water. The following counties border Camden County:

history
Camden County was formed on March 13, 1844 from former parts of Gloucester County. It was named after Charles Pratt, 1st Earl Camden (1714–1794), Lord Chancellor of England from 1766 to 1770 .
Two places in the county have National Historic Landmark status , the Hadrosaurus Foulkii Leidy Site paleontological site and the Walt Whitman House . A total of 90 buildings and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (as of February 16, 2018).

The racial the population was composed of 65.3 percent white, 19.6 percent African American, 0.3 percent Native American, 5.1 percent Asian and other ethnic groups; 2.6 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 14.2 percent of the population.
