Meyrueis is the southernmost municipality in the Lozère department. It is located in the Cevennes at the confluence of the Jonte , Brèze and Béthuzon ("three-river city").

Hiking, kayaking and mountain biking are all possible from the site. The Dargilan and Aven Armand visitor caves and the Tombe du Géant dolmen are nearby.
