Le Rozier is a French commune with 132 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Lozère department in the Occitanie region . It belongs to the canton of Florac .

Le Rozier is located in the Cevennes National Park between the Causse Noir (black plateau) and the Causse Méjean (middle plateau) in the Tarn Valley at the confluence of the Jonte in the Tarn, below the Gorges du Tarn ( Tarn Gorge) and the Gorges de la Jonte ( Jonteschlucht), 84 kilometers northwest of Montpellier , 15 kilometers northeast of Millau and 14.2 kilometers northwest of the canton capital Meyrueis , between the neighboring municipalities of Peyreleau in the south and Mostuéjouls in the northwest.

Attractions

The Saint-Sauveur Priory Church was built in the 11th and 12th centuries. It was entered in the supplementary directory of the Monuments historiques in 1960 ( inscrit MH ). The church belonged to an old priory Saint-Sauveur (also called Entraygues ). This priory was placed under the monastery of Saint-Benoît by Aniane (Hérault) in 1075 . During the Huguenot Wars (1562–1598) parts of the church were destroyed. The church was restored in the 17th century.

In 1927 a 4.5 meter high monument was erected for the cave explorers Édouard Alfred Martel (1859-1938) and Louis Armand .
