Michael Steinwender (born May 4, 2000 in Eisenstadt ) is an Austrian football player .

Career

society

Steinwender began his career at ASK Baumgarten . For the 2011/12 season he switched to the youth team at SK Rapid Vienna . In March 2013 he joined the youth of SV Mattersburg . For the 2014/15 season he came to AKA Burgenland , where he went through all age groups.

In June 2017 he made his debut against SV Schattendorf for the amateurs of his regular Mattersburg club in the Burgenland League . In the 2017/18 season he made 20 appearances for the amateurs in the fourth-highest division, in which he scored two goals. In May 2018 he was against FC Red Bull Salzburg for the first time in the professional squad. With the amateurs he rose to the regional league at the end of the season .

For the 2018/19 season he moved firmly into the squad of professionals, but was not once in the matchday squad during that season. For the amateurs he made 29 appearances in the regional league. In June 2020 he finally made his debut in the Bundesliga when he came on as a substitute for Andreas Gruber on matchday 28 of the 2019/20 season against SKN St. Pölten in stoppage time . The club stopped playing after the 2019/20 season.

He then moved to SKN St. Pölten for the 2020/21 season , where he received a contract that ran until June 2023.

National team

Steinwender played against the Netherlands for the first time for the Austrian U-18 team in October 2017 . In August 2019, he played for the U-19 team against Cyprus .
