Career start in Deutsch Jahrndorf

Drescher began his active career as a soccer player in mid-July 1996 with ASV Deutsch Jahrndorf in the 600-strong community Deutsch Jahrndorf in the Austro- Hungarian - Slovakian border triangle . At the Club, in which, with Thomas Schrammel began already in the years before another later professional football player's career, it took him until 1999. He then moved in the summer of 1999 as a cooperative player for VfB Admira Wacker Mödling , finally to 2006 in youth actively for it was, but at the same time was registered with his actual home club from Deutsch Jahrndorf until 2007. After a last (14th) place in the 2004/05 season, in which they took only nine points from 24 games, Drescher and the team achieved 54 points from 24 championship games in the following season, four points behind the Federal Youth Center (BNZ) Tirol took first place in the final table.

First assignments for professionals and amateurs at Admira

After the end of the cooperation period and the permanent admission into the club, Drescher was accepted for the first time in the Admira Amateure squad with play in the third-class Regionalliga Ost. The then only 16-year-old made his competitive debut on September 16, 2006 in the 1: 2 home defeat against First Vienna FC 1894 , when he was in the Mödlinger's defensive row for the full game and his first yellow in the 23rd minute of play Got card in adult football. The young defender played in 16 regional league games throughout the season, in which he received four yellow cards and one yellow-red card . With the team he reached a relegation rank at the end of the season with the 15th of 16 places and should accordingly have been relegated to the 1st Lower Austrian regional league , the Austrian fourth division. Due to the club's financial difficulties, the Admira's professional team received no license for the first division for the 2007/08 season and therefore had to relegate to the regional division. Previously, Drescher made his professional debut in the First League on April 13, 2007 when he came on as a substitute for the more experienced Roman Koller at half-time in the 1-1 home draw against the amateurs of FK Austria Wien . Overall, he was used in four games in the second highest Austrian soccer league in the 2006/07 season , with one game even being used for the full duration of the game.

With the club at its lowest point

Due to the descent of the professional team in the regional league, the second combat team also had to descend one league lower according to the guidelines and thus started playing after the forced relegation in the fifth-class 2. Landesliga Ost . Since a large number of players left the financially troubled club in the 2006/07 season, only a handful of young but committed players remained to compete with the team in the Regionalliga Ost. Drescher was one of them who finally made a total of 22 league appearances by the end of the season, although he was mainly used as a substitute player, especially in the first half of the season. In all of his games he was once again goalless and achieved a less glorious ninth place in the table with the team in the final classification.

After Admira's sporting and financial decline, the entrepreneur Richard Trenkwalder , still president of the first league club ASK Schwadorf , began his involvement in the southern part of the city. During his activity, the ASK Schwadorf was renamed FC Trenkwalder Admira and at the same time the club headquarters were relocated from Schwadorf to Mödling in order to maintain the club academy, in which Drescher was trained for years. The Admira in the Eastern Regionalliga in the legal sense was finally renamed FC Trenkwalder Admira Kampfmannschaft II and from then on only served as the reserve team of the now professional team. Although Drescher would have been eligible to play for the professional team at that time, he was only used in the Regionalliga Ost with the now amateur team, where he became a regular in the team's defensive line and made 29 of a total of 30 possible league appearances. He scored in this season , including his first goal in adult football as he at 3 on September 21, 2008: 2 home win over the amateurs of SV Mattersburg after 87 minutes to 2 the results: 2 scored compensation.

Regular strength among the amateurs and new admission to the professional team

When Drescher drew attention to himself with remarkable performances in the amateur team in the 2009/10 season , he was soon accepted into the first division team. With the amateurs, the 1.89 m tall central defender made 21 championship appearances in which he scored four goals (+ one own goal), but also attracted attention in terms of discipline, as he was cautioned ten times during the season. In the first division he made his comeback in professional football shortly before his 20th birthday when, ironically, he played again against the amateurs of FK Austria Wien over the full game on October 2, 2009. Drescher was able to book another 90-minute mission on May 21, 2010; At the end of the season, the team barely made it to the Austrian Bundesliga and had to be satisfied with the runner- up title, two points behind FC Wacker Innsbruck .

After the recent upswing of Admira, Drescher was exclusively in the club's professional squad and was used in 26 championship games and on August 27, 2010, gave a 3-2 home win over the co-favorites for the championship, the SCR Altach, an assist for his teammates.

With Admira he rose to the Bundesliga at the end of the season .

For the 2014/15 season, Drescher moved to league rivals Wolfsberger AC . For the 2018/19 season he moved to SKN St. Pölten , where he received a contract that ran until June 2019.

National team

During his time at the Admira training center, Drescher was appointed to an Austrian national team for the first time. He was used in a game for Austria's U-15 team. A few years later, in November 2009 to be precise, Drescher was appointed to the U-20 national team of his home country for a friendly match each against his age colleagues from Germany and the U-20 national team from Italy. The young central defender finally made his team debut on November 13, 2009, when he was on the pitch for the full length of the game in a 2-2 draw against the German representatives. Four days later, on November 17, 2009, in a 1-0 win over Italy, he was on the field again for over 90 minutes and even scored the only goal of the game in the 36th minute after a free kick by Thomas Hopfer . In February 2010 U-20 national coach Hermann Stadler nominated the tall Drescher again for a game against his Italian peers for the national team. The away game in Italy was finally won 3: 1 after Drescher, who played until the end of the match, and his team were already 3-0 in the lead after 35 minutes of play.
