Michael "Mike" Taylor (born April 24, 1934 in London ; † April 4, 2017 ) was a British automobile racing driver .
Career
Michael Taylor raced a Lotus XI sports car in the UK as an amateur in the late 1950s and won a number of club races. In 1959, he won with his Lotus Grand Prix des Frontières at Chimay and rose with a Formula 2 - Cooper in the single-seater a scene. After winning the BARC 200 in Aintree , his first and only race in the automobile world championship followed .
For the Alan Brown team , he competed with a Cooper T45 at the Great Britain Grand Prix in Aintree. The performance was a failure, Taylor had to give up the race just before the end after problems with the clutch . 1960 Taylor tried again in the automobile world championship. He entered the Belgian Grand Prix with a Lotus 18 . At one of the most tragic Grand Prix weekends in history - Chris Bristow and Alan Stacey died in the race , Stirling Moss had a serious accident in training but got away with his life - Taylor had a serious accident. The Lotus raced into the forest after a steering defect and was almost completely destroyed on impact. Taylor survived the accident with serious injuries, but made a full recovery. However, his racing career was over.
