Mikkel Kaufmann Sørensen (born January 3, 2001 in Hjørring ) is a Danish football player who has been under contract to first division club FC Copenhagen since January 2020 . The striker has been a Danish U19 international since September 2018 .

Career

Kaufmann started playing football in his hometown Hjørring IF before joining the Aalborg BK U14 team . For the 2017/18 season he made his debut playing for the reserves, but continued to play for the U17 league, where he was top scorer with 24 goals.

On August 6, 2018 (4th match day) he made his debut in the Superliga when he played Wessam Abou in the 87th minute of the game in the 1-0 away win against Vendsyssel FF - who take part in the game with the license of Hjørring IF Ali was substituted on. As a result, he was used in the U19. In the relegation round of the 2018/19 season , he was back in the first team. On April 7, 2019 (28th matchday) he equalized the 1-1 final score in the away game against Hobro IK after being substituted on in the 95th minute of the game. During this season he was used in seven league games, in which he scored once. For the U19 he made 16 goals in 17 games.

In the following season 2019/20 he made his breakthrough at Aalborg. He scored his first goal of the season on the third matchday in a 3-1 home win against Silkeborg IF . On October 27, 2019 (14th matchday) he scored two goals in the 3-1 away win against Sønderjysk Elitesport and prepared the third goal for his team.

On January 24, 2020, he moved to league competitor FC Copenhagen for a transfer fee of three million euros , where he should have started a five-year contract from July 2020. After Copenhagen striker Carlo Holse was sold to Rosenborg BK in the same transfer window , the club brought Kaufmann over to them on January 31. On February 14, 2020 (21st matchday) he made his debut in the 0-1 away defeat against Esbjerg fB for FCK when he came on for Guillermo Varela in the 70th minute of the game . He scored his first goal on June 7th (26th matchday) in a 2-1 home win against Randers FC . He played a total of 32 league games this season for Aalborg and Copenhagen, in which he scored eight goals and three assists.

National team

From October 2017 to May 2018 he played four international matches for the Danish U17 national team, including twice at the 2018 U17 European Championship . In November 2018 he played two test matches for the U18 , in which he met once.

Mikkel Kaufmann has been the Danish U19 international since September 2018 .
