Stephan Maigaard Andersen (born November 26, 1981 in Copenhagen ) is a Danish football goalkeeper . He is under contract with FC Copenhagen . He was part of the squad of the Danish national team , for which he was used in 30 games, and took part in the 2010 World Cup and the 2004 and 2012 European Championships .
Career
society
Andersen was initially trained in the youth academy of Brøndby IF and a few years later moved to the youth team of Hvidovre IF . In 2000 he made his first game in the first team and became a regular player. He joined the local rivals Akademisk Boldklub in 2002 and played his first game in the highest Danish league, the Superliga . In his first season he reached ninth place in the table with AB, which was enough to keep the league. In the following season he rose with AB in the second division.
In the summer of 2004 Andersen went to England with his national team colleague Dennis Rommedahl to Charlton Athletic , who were then playing in the Premier League . He could not prevail there and came in two and a half years only to 17 missions, which is why he returned to his youth club Brøndby IF in January 2007. In the second half of the 2006/07 season he came on 15 missions and finished sixth with the club. In the following season Andersen played in 33 games. At the end of the season, he and the club won the cup after a 3-2 win in the final against Esbjerg fB . In the following years Andersen came to another 56 missions.
In August 2011 Andersen moved - five months before his contract with Brøndby expired - to France for FC Évian Thonon Gaillard , who had been promoted to Ligue 1 . There he played with his compatriots Daniel Wass and Christian Poulsen and was initially intended as a substitute goalkeeper. After an injury to the goalkeeper, he was used 30 times in his first season.
In the summer of 2013 Andersen signed a two-year contract with the Spanish first division club Betis Sevilla . Until January 2014, he only came to seven missions. On January 30, 2014 he was loaned to Go Ahead Eagles Deventer in the Netherlands until the end of the season and played 13 games.
In the summer of 2014 Andersen returned to Denmark for FC Copenhagen ; he signed a three-year contract. In the 2014/15 season he was a regular goalkeeper and missed winning the Danish championship with FC Copenhagen. Also in the first half of the following season he was number 1 in goal, but then lost his regular place to Robin Olsen after an injury . Despite his role as a reservist, he extended his contract term, which expired on June 30, 2017, to 2019. Even after Robin Olsen's departure, Andersen was a substitute goalkeeper; by the end of the 2018/19 season he had played 58 league games.
National team
Andersen made 26 international matches for the youth national teams of Denmark from 2001 to 2003 (5 × U-20 and 21 × U-21). On March 21, 2004 Andersen made his first international match for the league national team (a national team in which only players from the Danish league play) against the USA , which Denmark won 3-1, as part of a trip to America . In the second game against CD Aguila, he was also between the posts.
Andersen played his first international match on March 31, 2004 in the 2-0 defeat in Gijón against Spain. He was substituted on for Thomas Sørensen at half- time. With the national team he took part in the 2004 European Football Championship in Portugal , but was not used.
After he moved to Charlton Athletic, but could not assert himself there, he was not called up to the national team until 2006; a nomination at the end of May 2006 should remain his only one in 2006. Andersen has been nominated regularly since March 2007. On September 6, 2008, he played an international match for the first time since his debut in March 2004. In the World Cup qualifier against Hungary he was in goal for 90 minutes. Coach Morten Olsen called Anderssen into the squad for the 2010 Soccer World Cup in South Africa . In the tournament itself he was again not used; the Danes were eliminated after the group stage.
After an injury to Sørensen, Andersen traveled to the 2012 European Football Championship as a regular goalkeeper for the Danish national team . Even after the European Championship finals, he remained a regular goalkeeper and was used in all ten games in qualifying for the 2014 World Cup ; however, the qualification to participate in the finals was missed. In the 2014 calendar year, Andersen was no longer a regular goalkeeper for the Danish national team and was only used in two out of nine games.
