Hustopečsko microregion

The micro-region Hustopečsko geographically located in the area of the river Thaya (Czech: Dyje) in the region nádrže Novomlýnské and the southern part of les Ždánický . Its center is the city of Hustopeče . 78% of the region has an agricultural character, 7% form forest areas, 4% water areas and 11% are built up or other areas. About 29,000 people live on 27,416 hectares in the microregion. The plain in the southern part with an altitude of 170 to 200 meters takes up about a third of the area, mostly used for agriculture or with bodies of water that are often used for fish farming. It is hilly in the northern part. The highest mountain is the Přední kout at 410 meters above sea level.

The region was settled in the 13th to 15th centuries. The livelihood of the people was agriculture, especially viticulture and fruit growing . This tradition has been preserved to this day. The Velké Pavlovice wine-growing region is still one of the best-known suppliers of high-quality wines. The new harvest and the wines are presented in so-called tastings (Czech: koš), cultural and social events that attract many visitors to the area.
