Mimi Page (* 2. February 1987 in Los Angeles , California as Mimi Page Sieradzki ) is an American singer and songwriter .

Music genre

Pages music combines singing with piano-driven, atmospheric soundscapes. She traces her sound back to the use of reverb , delay and layering techniques in post-production . Page's main instruments are the piano and synthesizer, with production and beat creation in Logic Pro .

Career

1987-2007

Mimi Page was born on February 2, 1987 in Los Angeles, California. Page was raised by her mother, Cheryl Clark, a "triple threat" dancer who appeared and toured on the prestigious Broadway shows Chicago , A Chorus Line and Pippin . From the age of 2 to 5, Page accompanied her mother on several international tours.

“We pretty much lived as nomads in hotels and on the tour bus. I'd rehearse her lines with her which helped me learn how to read. I attribute a lot of my creativity to my childhood as I was constantly surrounded by music and dancing. "

Page then moved to the suburbs of Las Vegas to start elementary school and achieve a stable living environment. At the age of 5 she began composing on the piano. Page returned to Los Angeles at age 11. At the age of 16, she moved to the Alexander Hamilton Music Academy to continue her piano training. She continued to compose instrumental music, but initially hid her desire to sing out of shyness.

Page shifted her artistic focus dramatically when she discovered electronic music teaching at school. After learning to digitally record and manipulate her singing in class, Page began recording and producing her own music.

During her senior year in high school, Page herself published a collection of the songs she recorded in her class and posted it publicly on Myspace .

In 2006, Page attended college at the University of California , Santa Cruz, to continue her studies in composition and electronic music. In 2007, she left university and moved to Hollywood to study audio engineering at the Musicians Institute . About the postponement of studies, Page says:

“I wanted to get away from the formal structure of classical music and learn more of the techniques of recording. It's really tough when you're an up and coming artist to afford studio time, so I wanted to be able to cheaply build my own studio and produce my own albums. "

During this time, Page continued to upload music via Myspace, YouTube and Facebook that was recorded and produced in her studio.

2008–2012

After submitting her demos to multiple radio stations, some of her unreleased songs were played on Sirius XM Chill and SomaFM Lush. In May 2010, Page released her first EP A Lullaby for the Lonely on CD Baby (which originally contained the singles New and Come What May ). In August she released two more singles, Gravity and This Fire . MTV's The Real World licensed This Fire in an episode that put the song at # 11 on iTunes and # 1 on Amazon.com's electronic charts . Page was then contacted by the bass music label Simplify Recordings and received a one-album deal for a remix album for her songs from A Lullaby For The Lonely , with two options: either to remix exclusively from the label's top producers or host a remix competition and give both established and inexperienced producers the opportunity to apply. Page entered the remix competition and made their vocal strains publicly available for download for a limited time. As a result, several promoted EDM - Blogs competition and hundreds of submissions were received. Both Page and the label voted for the top 12 and on June 8th 2011 the album Harmonious HeartBEATS was released .

After the album was released, Page worked on original material with several Harmonious HeartBEATS remixers . In July 2011, Page and Shotgun Radio released a separate collaboration called A Bad Place . Simplify Recordings offered a second remix album deal for the single.

Page then teamed up with Warren Huart to complete their album Breathe Me In . Originally intended for further self-publication, Page financed the album production with fan donations via Kickstarter.com . In August 2011 she was offered a distribution contract for Breathe Me In by the record label Gonzo Multimedia (the parent company of Voiceprint Records ) . To anticipate the album, Gonzo Multimedia released This Fire on a new EP on December 1, 2011 . On February 14, 2012, Breathe Me In was released on Gonzo Multimedia's new label Hunter Records. The album received positive reviews in the music blogosphere. Stereo Subversion Magazine describes Breathe Me In as

“A potent mix of sultry down tempo numbers, emotional pop-tronica, and thought-provoking ballads. Her vocals draw you in like a tractor beam, and the musical variety is downright dizzying. "

The Untz blog listed them at number 2 in the Top 15 Producers with Pipes .

A remix of A Bad Place by dubstep producer Minnesota caused a sensation by Lorin Ashtons (Bassnectar) and appeared on his Amorphous Music Mixtape Volume 7 . Ashton then contacted Page and asked her to write a song for his upcoming album Vava Voom . In April 2012 their collaboration Butterfly was released as track 9 on Vava Voom . Other artists such as Lupe Fiasco and Amp Live are also featured on the album . Vava Voom debuted at number 34 on the Billboard 200 . In a review by Vava Voom , music critic Jim DeRogatis described Page's singing on Butterfly as gorgeous . A second collaboration with Page, Bassnectar and the British drum and bass duo DC Breaks, titled Breathless , appeared on Ashton's Freestyle EP in October 2012 , which ranks # 1 on the iTunes Electronic Charts, # 79 on the Billboard 200 and on BBC Radio 1 on the Airplay landed. In February 2013, Butterfly was represented in the television series The Following by Fox Broadcasting Company in the episode The Fall and brought Butterfly to number 4 on the iTunes electronic charts. Butterfly won the radio play on Sirius XM Chill, KCRW-FM and other networks.

2013-2016

Page's vocal performance in Butterfly caught the attention of Zak Bagans, creator and star of the Travel Channel series Ghost Adventures, and Page was invited to write a song for his show. Page recorded and produced an original song called Requiem , which has since been used as a recurring theme in several episodes of season 7 and 8, notably the New Orleans episode , which revolved around the devastation of Hurricane Katrina . She also appeared as a visiting researcher in the seventh season episode The Glen Tavern Inn and accompanied actress Brit Morgan , Zak Bagans and the rest of the cast for one night. In March 2013 she released the Requiem EP with Requiem and a new original song, Treading the Abyss , which was played on Sirius / XM Chill. Also on the EP was a cover of Chris Isaak's Wicked Game and Jeremy Soules Secunda from the video game The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim . The Secunda cover came with a homemade music video and was published on several gaming websites. Heartache with Hard Work blog listed the Requiem EP at # 26 on the list of Top 30 Albums of 2013 and Treading the Abyss as

"A spare percussive core with otherworldly vocals and what may be the greatest EDM hook I can think of."

designated.

“Most people associate the name Mimi Page with her illustrious collection of vocal features for artists like Seven Lions, Bassnectar , and Kezwik, but there is so much more to the young singer than meets the eye. Or ear in this case. The ever-evolving musician has released an album and multiple EPs apart from the confines of traditional dance music, creating a bewitching amalgam of dreamy instrumentations and disarmingly beautiful melodies. "

In May 2013, Page, Minnesota and Seven Lions released their single, Fevers, on Skrillex 's label OWSLA . The single was played on the Internet radio stations Sirius / XM BPM and Electric Area. In August 2013, the blog ranked The Untz Page at number 5 on the list of Top 10 EDM Vocalists.

In September 2013 the track Lost in Me was released , which was created in collaboration with Paris Blohm on the trance label Enhanced Music and could be heard on Sirius / XM BPM as well as on Electric Area stations. He was supported by EDM heavyweights Tiësto , BT and Tritonal.

On November 13, 2015, Page released her second studio album, The Ethereal Blues , which she produced herself and released on her own label. Heartache for Hard Work blog ranked him number 3 on their annual list of top albums of 2015, referring to him as

“Orchestral sweeps, trip-hop beats, lyrics that speak of a deep well of sadness, but which elevate rather than weigh down. It's also truly an album to be experienced in totality. For all the wonderful beauty of the individual components, the true genius is in the careful layering of possibilities from song to song. The process is dialectical: endlessly provocative, eternally haunting ”

The collaboration with Inon Zur on The Path of Destiny , the theme song for the video game Sword Coast Legends , was nominated for the Hollywood Music in Media Award . Another collaboration with Rhys Fulber from Conjure One, called Oceanic , opened Armin van Buuren's A State of Trance Podcast Episode 740.
