The Ministry of Gender Equality and Child Welfare ( English Ministry of Gender Equality and Child Welfare , MGECW) was the Geschlechtergleichbehandlungs- and child welfare Ministry of Namibia . It was merged with the Ministry of Poverty Reduction and Social Welfare under the Presidential Office in March 2020 .
It was last headed by Minister Doreen Sioka with the support of Vice Minister Lucia Witbooi .
The ministry is divided into four directorates: Gender Equality , Community & Integrated Early Childhood Development , General Services and Child Welfare Services . It also operates local information offices in all regions of Namibia .
An important task of the ministry is the education of women and mothers with regard to child welfare, upbringing and obstetrics .
