Miranda Raison
Miranda Caroline Raison (born November 18, 1977 in Burnham Thorpe , Norfolk ) is a British film and theater actress , best known for her role as Jo Portman in the BBC One television series Spooks .
Life
Miranda Raison was born in Burnham Thorpe , Norfolk . Her father, Nick Raison, is a jazz pianist and artist , and her mother, Caroline Raison, was a newscaster for Anglia Television .
Raison has two brothers and two sisters: Ed, who is a member of the music band Lost Levels , and Rosie, Sam and May. Her parents separated when she was five years old. Her father remarried and lives on the Suffolk coast . She attended several boarding schools, including a. the traditional, elitist Gresham's School and the Stowe School.
Raison attended the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art , the premier drama school in London.
Career
TV and theater
Miranda Raison was best known for portraying Jo Portman on the BBC One television series Spooks , which she played from 2005 to 2010.
In April 2007 she appeared in two episodes of Doctor Who , Daleks in Manhattan and Evolution of the Daleks , in minor appearances. Her character Tallulah, a show girl, dances to the music of her father, Nick Raison. Nick Raison accompanies the dance scene on his piano and is a member of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales . A guest appearance in the fourth episode of Totally Doctor Who followed.
In 2007, Raison appeared in six episodes of Plus One's Channel 4 series Comedy Showcase, starring Duncan James , Rory Kinnear and Nigel Harman . In 2010, she got the lead role as model Abbey in the ITV1 comedy drama Married Single Other .
In 2010, Raison played the title role in Anne Boleyn , an award-winning play by Howard Brenton , whom she knew as a screenwriter on the BBC series Spooks . The play premiered on July 24, 2010 at the Globe Theater . In the same Globe season, she played Anne Boleyn in Henry VIII. Of William Shakespeare .
In 2011 she appeared in the three-part comedy Sugartown and in the crime comedy Death in Paradise . In the same year she played the role of Isolde in the fourth season of the BBC series Merlin - The New Adventure , in episodes 12 and 13 ( The Sword in the Stone , Parts I and II).
On stage, Raison played the title role in Brenton's Anne Boleyn again in 2011 . All performances were sold out. Since August 2012 she has been playing the role again in front of a sold out house.
In 2012, Raison starred in the first episode of Dirk Gently as Kate and in six episodes of the second season of the television series Vexed .
Movie
Raison starred opposite Scarlett Johansson in Woody Allen's film Match Point in 2005 and starred alongside Ralph Fiennes in Land of the Blind in 2006 . After these film projects, she graduated from the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art .
Speaking roles
In 2005, Raison appeared on the BBC Radio 4 radio comedy series Deep Trouble as Petty Officer Lucy Radcliffe.
In the computer role-playing game Dragon Age 2 , she dubbed the character Cassandra Pentaghast.
Raison worked on two other radio plays with the audiobook titles The Davros Mission and The Wreck of the Titan , based on the television series Doctor Who by Big Finish Productions .
Since 2014 she has been speaking in Thomas & his friends the French narrow-gauge locomotive Millie and the station announcement of Knapford Central Station.
Personal
In September 2007, Miranda Raison married in Aldeburgh their Spooks - fellow actor Raza Jaffrey , shortly after he left the series. In July 2009, they announced their separation and divorced.
Raison plays golf and is an active member of the Aldeburgh Golf Club .
