NGC 5849 is a 13.9 mag bright lenticular galaxy with an active galaxy core (LINER type) of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Libra and about 318 million light years from the Milky Way.

It was discovered by Francis Leavenworth on June 6, 1886 .
