The NHL Stadium Series is an ice hockey event of the North American National Hockey League , in which one or more regular season matches are played in the form of outdoor games. It is thus in line with the NHL Winter Classic and the NHL Heritage Classic . The first NHL Stadium Series was held in 2014, with a total of four games.

Many of the Stadium Series encounters are on the list of ice hockey games with the highest number of spectators because they are generally played in stadiums designed for field sports such as football or baseball .

Note 1Although both games were held in New York, the New York Rangers competed as an away team.
