The 2015 NHL Stadium Series was an outdoor ice hockey game played on February 21, 2015 as part of the 2014/15 season of the National Hockey League (NHL). In this second edition of the NHL Stadium Series and the fifth game overall - the previous year there had been four games as part of the series - the Los Angeles Kings won 2-1 against host local rivals San Jose Sharks at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara in front of 70,205 spectators . In the list of ice hockey games with the highest number of spectators , it was in sixth place at this point in time.

After the success of NHL Stadium Series 2014 in Dodger Stadium of Los Angeles soon there were rumors that the following year a game in Northern California should take place. Levi's Stadium , AT&T Park and Stanford Stadium were considered as potential venues . On August 6, 2014, it was finally announced that Levi's Stadium had been chosen to host the game between the San Jose Sharks and the Los Angeles Kings .

The San Jose Sharks started the game with 68 points, but had only won two of the last six games and got five points. Together with the Calgary Flames tied on points, they were on the last wild card place eligible for participation in the play-offs . The Los Angeles Kings went into the encounter with 66 points and a winning streak of six games. In addition, they had completed fewer season games than San Jose.

The Los Angeles Kings took the lead early in the first period through Kyle Clifford , before San Jose could equalize through defender Brent Burns just before the third break . In the second third, the hosts pushed for the opening goal, but they were denied it. In the urge phase of San Jose, the Slovakian Marián Gáborík scored the later winning goal for the reigning Stanley Cup winner in the beginning phase of the final section .
